Relief Printmaking • Sam Burston – Georgia

Participants in this workshop will experience the exciting, versatile and astounding capabilities of linoleum block printing.

Oil Painting • Pat Walker Fields – Mississippi

Problem solving in painting from life will be addressed in this workshop. Great emphasis will be placed on proper observations and accurate values. Lecture, critiques and demonstrations will be daily. Pat explores the importance of design, value control, color control, edges, and paint quality.

The line up of classes for Tougaloo College Summer Art Colony 2009 has been announced and you can now download the brochure and sign up!

PRINT MAKING: BEYOND MONOTYPES • Maritza Davila
Participants will create one-time impressions monotypes using a variety of
methods, which will include Plexiglas transfers as well as other surfaces.
Under the expert guidance of Davila, the participants will develop a series
of prints.

Art in the Surreal • frank robinson jr.
Robinson transforms the lowest of objects; soda can tabs, broken mirrors,
buttons, lost jewelry, and many other tossed-aside objects and elevates
them to urban artifacts. Participant will be intrigued and completely
amazed at the recyclable potential of objects as they become a part of
the surreal world of art

Classey Classic Clay • Charles Smith
Participants in this workshop will explore technical aspects of clay, glazes,
and surface treatment while manipulating the clay and employing
“unimaginable possibilities”. Smith will demonstrate the techniques that
helped to contribute to his exhibit “Uncommon Beauty in Common
Objects”.

FROM THE SPIRIT II • Arlington Weithers
Returns by popular demand to ignite new fires in the creative spirit.
New York Artist Arlington Weithers’ personal faith and faith in the
transformative possibilities of art will have participants in this workshop
experiencing a new understanding of the acrylic medium as a connection
is made between form, structure, and painterly freedom.

“RAW KIDS ART CAMP”

Owens Health and Wellness Center
An exciting children’s art camp led by Ann “Sole Sister” Johnson
RAW KIDS goal is to nurture creative minds by allowing children
to produce cool and exciting art projects. Three days of art making
and an exhibit on the Fourth Day.
